When you drive your vehicle, you probably only pay attention to things like your gas level and any warning lights that come on. But one very important part of vehicles that drivers often fail to pay attention to is the tires. Your vehicle’s tires help to keep you on the road safely so it’s important to make sure they’re in good shape. If you’re not sure whether or not you need new tires, here are a few signs your tires should be replaced. Your tires are worn or bald: You can often tell if your tires need to be replaced just by looking at them — if the tread on the tires is worn down, it’s time to head to a tire shop. Bald or worn tires won’t be able to provide the traction you need to stay on the road, especially on wet or icy roads. Your vehicle won’t stop shaking: When you’re driving on a smooth road, your ride should also be smooth. If your car is shaking, this may mean there is a problem with your tires. There is a possibility of something being wrong with the inside of the tire that is causing the car to shake. Or if you haven’t recently gotten your tires aligned and balanced, which should be done every 5,000 to 6,000 miles, this could be a problem as well. There are cracks in the sidewalls: Any sign of noticeable damage is not good — but cracks or gouges in the sidewalls of your tires are especially bad. Tires can become worn and damaged over time but damaged tires should not be driven on. If there are cracks in the sidewalls, you’re risking your tire blowing out while you’re driving. To avoid this, invest in off-road tires if you’re driving on bumpy back roads. If you’ve noticed any of these signs with your tires, then you need to look into local tire shops sooner rather than later. Replacing tires can be expensive, but if you look into tire shops that offer payment plans or even rent-to-own options, they can be more affordable. So make sure you’re not driving on damaged or worn tires and get new tires today.
